Charlotte Pass is one of Australia’s most iconic and unique ski resorts, tucked deep in the Snowy Mountains of NSW. Here’s what makes it special in winter:

About Charlotte

• Located at 1,755m elevation in Kosciuszko National Park — Australia’s highest ski resort
• Ski season typically runs late June to early October
• The village sits right at the base of Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest peak

Getting There Charlotte Pass is famously car-free in winter. Once the road closes (usually around June), the only way in is by Sno-Cat from Perisher — a roughly 8km oversnow journey that’s an experience in itself. This isolation is a big part of its charm.

Skiing & Snow

• Around 12 runs across beginner to advanced terrain, plus off-piste options
• Because of its altitude and position, it gets some of the most reliable and deepest snowfalls in Australia
• Great for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing too — with access to vast backcountry terrain

The Village

• A tiny, intimate resort with just a handful of lodges (Kosciuszko Chalet being the main one)
• Accommodation is mostly all-inclusive lodge-style, giving it a cosy, old-school alpine feel
• No crowds, no day-trippers — it’s almost entirely made up of guests staying overnight
• Perfect for families and those wanting a quieter alternative to Perisher or Thredbo
