About Thredbo

Thredbo is a village and ski resort in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council. The village is built on the Thredbo River, which is fed by the Thredbo Glacier and Snowy River. The resort has 14 lifts, including 2 high-speed quads, 3 fixed-grip quads, 5 double chairs, and 4 surface lifts. It has a vertical drop of 672 metres (2,205 ft) and covers an area of 480 hectares (1,200 acres).

Thredbo ski resort is located in Mt Kosciuszko National Park NSW, which forms part of the great dividing range of Australia. The village is very much influenced by people who came to work on the Snowy River Scheme, hence its European feel. Many of the runs are named after the people who established it. A lot of the architecture has a Tyrolean/Bavarian crossed with early Australian Alpine style.

Thredbo is renowned for its restaurants and nightlife and boasts the longest run in Australia. The mountain has over 50 runs with 16% for beginners, 67% for intermediates, and the rest are black runs. Friday Flats offers a gentle slope for beginners with special children learn to ski programs.

Thredbo is an all-year resort with the main seasons being winter and summer. In winter, Thredbo offers skiing and snowboarding on its slopes. In summer, visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, and other outdoor activities.
