Mansfield is a picturesque town surrounded by National Parks.

The area is commonly know as the High Country of Victoria and was made famous , because that is where they the Man from Snowy River was filmed. The town acts a gateway to for those who want to fish ,hunt ,winter sports and biking .Mansfield is very much a tourist town featuring a wide range of accommodation and vibrant commercial centre which caters for the many visitors who then travel to the ski resorts of Mount Buller or Mount Stirling .The town has now evolved with a boutique feel, catering for all those activities with local restaurants and café serving up local delicacy’s .In winter the town services all the skiers on the way to Mt Buller ,with hire shops, chain hire and accommodation .
Mansfield is only 180 kilometres from Melbourne so is a very popular spot on the weekend and only 2 hours and 30 minutes drive.

In winter its best to pre book ,and when its snowing its very hard to get a booking as every one waits with the anticipation of powder snow .There are over 20 accommodation places in the town not including B&Bs located in the country side. With budget accommodation at the Pub through to 5 star retreats .
