Important Notes for EV Drivers
- Sydney’s widespread charging network covers most major areas and transport corridors
- Traffic congestion can impact travel time between charging stations
- Many charging stations in the CBD area have parking fees associated with them
- Multiple charging apps (NRMA, Chargefox, Evie, PlugShare) provide real-time availability information
- Some charging stations may require pre-registration or specific access cards
Sydney’s EV charging infrastructure continues to expand rapidly with new installations regularly being added throughout the metropolitan area. The NSW Government has committed to a significant expansion of the fast charging network as part of its Electric Vehicle Strategy, with plans for charging stations approximately every 100km on major highways connecting Sydney to regional areas.
