13th  & 27th Alpine Lakes Walk You walk across the rooftop of Australia and take in views of Australia’s highest peaks and some of the best alpine scenery around. This unique and beautiful walk passes glacial lakes, the dramatic western side of the Main Range and unique alpine vegetation and landscapes. After a final crossing of the Snowy River, you ascend to Charlotte Pass for celebratory champagne before a courtesy vehicle returns you to Thredbo. This is a big walk; 19km in a day, so an adequate level of fitness is a must.

24th – Carols By Candlelight Poolside Bring your best festive vocals and join the Thredbo community for the annual Carols by Poolside. Local Carollers will be filling the hills with the sound of Christmas and the jolly guy in the big red suit may even drop by to say hi. Thredbo Summer Kids Festival Thredbo 27th December to 4th January This Christmas holidays Thredbo are hosting the Summer Kids Festival it is loaded with a big fresh line-up of activities, adventures and entertainment for the whole family. Climbing peaks, downhill biking, a mix of music and a mountain of things to do, the kids will love it.

27th, 28th, 30th – Kids Night Adventure This is a fun night out for the kids and a night off for mums and dads. The kids start the adventure with a sausage sizzle. While the activity leader cooks up a storm the children play games and work up an appetite. The children, then head off into the bush around the village with their activity leader searching for wombats, possums and anything that goes bump in the night. After our walking adventure, it’s time for some more fun and games at Thredbo Alpine Hotel.

The Kosciuszko Sunset Walk sees small guided groups watch the spectacular sunset, then with headlamps on head back to Thredbo under the Milky Way. Bring your friend, family or the love of your life, this walk is certainly one to remember.

31st – New Year’s Eve See in 2015 in true alpine style. Party with Thredbo at Australia’s highest New Year’s Eve celebration with a band playing live under starry skies in the Village Square from 10pm.

16th – 18th Thredbo Blues Festival Boasting some of Australia’s finest blues artists in both public venues and intimate dining environments, the festival will once again fill the Thredbo Village with the sounds of Blues. This year the famous Thredbo Blues Festival is turning 21, there are only a handful of music festivals in Australia can claim a 20 year legacy, and this summer’s Thredbo Blues Festival is shaping up to be a good one. Around 20 Australian artists will perform over the weekend in a mix of venues peppered throughout the village, even one at the top of the mountain.

26th – Mt Kosciuszko Australia Day Summit Walk Australia Day is one to reflect on all things great about Australia, Thredbo will mark this special day with a mix of activities including a walk to the top of Mt Kosciuszko so you can tell all your mates “I climbed Kosi, on Aussie Day” a perfect way to celebrate on the very top of Australia, there will also be a big village BBQ and entertainment.

 

 

February

6th – 8th – 2014 Downhill MTB Nationals The Downhill Nationals will hit Thredbo in February and is sure to showcase some awesome speed and skill. Thredbo has been a stalemate for the National Downhill races for some years now and 2015 will be no different. Here Australia’s top racers will be vying for late season points to be crowned the National Series Champion.

14th – Sunset Valentines Day Walk Explore the wild romance of the Main Range with your partner on Valentine’s Day. Share the amazing views, spectacular sunset and a flute or two of celebratory champagne on this adventure.  Standing on Australia’s highest peak you watch the last rays of the day race across the High Country, as the sun slowly sinks to the west. Then wander and star gaze back to Thredbo.

 

 

March

6th – 8th Australian MTB Interschools The Interschools Mountain Bike Championships give young riders that special chance to experience mountain biking and the enthusiasm and energy of this rapidly growing sport in a competitive, educational and supportive atmosphere. The primary aim is to promote participation and evoke interest in competitive cycling in the younger generation. Over the four days we will see the future stars of the sport battle it out over the disciplines of Cross Country, Downhill, Pump Track & Dual Slalom. The 2015 Australian Interschools is the 18thconsecutive year of Interschools at Thredbo.

2nd – 12th Thredbo Easter Kids Festival Thredbo This Easter Thredbo will be the place to be for a mega Easter festival that includes are a fun line-up of activities, adventures and entertainment for the whole family. The giant Easter Egg Hunt is on again plus a mix of music, activities and a mountain of things to do, the kids will love it.

4th – Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Walk This Full Moon Walk gives you the added bonus of a Lunar Eclipse. Wonder at the spectacle as the earth blocks light from reaching the moon leaving us a stunning red and orange orb. From the top of Australia, we are perfectly poised to catch the colour and beauty of not only a sunset but a retreating Full Moon Lunar Eclipse.

11th – 12th – NSW/ACT State Series Event Rocky Trails Downhill/Roller Coaster The 2015 NSW State Downhill Series will kick off with round one in Thredbo as the states battling it out to gain some early season points. A state race is often a good starting point for new comers to the sport to have a crack at racing in a laidback friendly environment.

 

 

May

1st – 3rd – Thredbo Jazz Festival The Thredbo Jazz Festival now in its 26th year is a 3-day celebration of Jazz music, great food and wine set in picturesque Thredbo in the heart of the spectacular Snowy Mountains. Thredbo offers a truly unique environment to enjoy some of Australia’s finest Jazz musicians, including special overseas guests, while experiencing the breathtaking mountain scenery. The Jazz Festival program will feature over 120 performers seen in a variety of separate venues including bars, cosy restaurants, nightclub, community centre, at the top of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift and the Thredbo Village Square, taking the jazz lover on a musical journey around Thredbo. The beauty of the festival is that all venues are within walking distance so once you arrive, leave your car behind and enjoy the fresh mountain air on foot. The Thredbo Jazz Festival is renowned as a boutique festival and the intimate performances in the restaurants over dinner are a favourite and bookings are strongly recommended.
